Program for the 2 days gorilla tracking Rwanda tour

Day 1: Kigali City Tour - Travel to Volcanoes National Park.

Have an early breakfast and be ready for pick-up at 7:00 am. Your driver / guide shall pick you up from your hotel or airport or preferred pick-up point. You do a tour of Kigali, the Capital of Rwanda. Kigali is renowned for its impeccable cleanliness and organization, some thing that cannot be said about many African cities.

The tour shall also include a visit to the main genocide memorial centre, the Kigali Memorial Centre. After the city tour you head northwards, driving round well terraced rolling hills, with breathtaking views of the rolling hills, valleys and the Virungas to Volcanoes National Park (Parc des Volcans). Have a 2 hours visit of the community at the Iby'iwacu cultural village for a great performance.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking and travel back to Kigali

Be up for morning breakfast by 6:30 am, grab your packed lunch and get to the pack headquarters or station. Here you join other trekkers for a briefing on gorilla trekking by your guide / ranger. A group of not more than eight trekkers along with a guide, an armed ranger and porters you shall ascend into park to track the assigned gorilla group.

The time taken to track these shy giants varies from a few minutes to several hours. Chances of not finding the gorillas are very slim, in fact by the time you start the trek, your guide / ranger has an idea of where to find them using his knowledge of gorilla movements and their known location the day before. When you finally locate your gorilla group, a maximum of one hour is allowed to observe and photograph the gorillas.

After the thrilling gorilla experience, you check out and travel back to Kigali to your preferred drop-off point or Airport for your return flight.
