3 Days Flying Gorilla Trekking safari in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

This 3 days gorilla flying safari transfers you to Bwindi impenetrable national park found in the South west of Uganda, on the edge of the western rift valley. It is one of Africa's richest Ecosystems and home to majority of the Mountain gorillas in Uganda. It has 10 groups of Mountain Gorillas estimated to be 320 altogether. The mountain gorilla groups are found in different sectors of the of the park, these include Nkuringo, Ruhija, Buhoma,and Rushaga. It takes approximately 9-10hours drive from Kampala to get there and yet it takes about an hour or 1hr 30minutes to fly there.

The flying Safari gives you a whole new experience. You get to have an aerial view of the unique landscapes, enjoy a series of folding hills that dramatically turn into highlands towards the west and as you draw closer to the park you notice the rich green cover. The flight also saves you the bumpy rides on some parts of the road, the time spent on the way and also you get to do more activities during the time you would have spent on the road.

Itinerary for the 3 Days Gorilla Flying Safari

Day 1: Fly to Kisoro / Kihihi

Depart Entebbe to Kisoro / Kihihi at 07:00am. You will reach the park at 08:00 / 08:30, then you will be taken to your accommodation. After checking in, freshening up and having lunch we shall have a cultural encounter with the initial inhabitants of the forests, the Batwa people. Here you will have village walks to see their way of living, visit the black smith and enjoy exciting vibrant local entertainment from the natives.

You will then continue to an evening walk through the Buhoma waterfall trail along the bamboo zone, where the bird lovers will be dazzled with the variety of over 350 species of birds that include the short-tailed warbler and blue headed sunbird, don't miss to spot different species of butterflies and plants too. You then head back to your accommodation and prepare for the next day.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking and Boat ride on Lake Mutanda

After your very early breakfast you will head to the briefing point at 07:30am. Here you will be taken through what you are supposed to do while tracking, what to expect and other guidelines needed for the adventure. A professional guide and game ranger will lead you into the rainforest to star your adventure. Tracking doesn't have specific time duration, it could take minutes, hours or even the whole day depending on how fast you see a mountain gorilla family.

After your memorable escapade, you will have a boat ride on Lake Mutanda where you'll enjoy a beautiful scenery with a back drop of volcanic Mountains Muhavura, Sabinyo and Mgahinga as you will be cruising through the foothills of the Virunga mountains.

You will then return to your accommodation as you will be exhausted. Remember to physically prepare well before the trip so that you don't easily get tired or even have body aches after the venture.

Day 3: Fly back to Entebbe

After breakfast you will then get your flight back to Entebbe. The flights back to Entebbe are usually in the morning because of the foggy weather that makes it difficult for flights to operate in the afternoon.
